Mount Cook Alpine Salmon

James recently worked as second camera operator for David Oakley on a commercial for Mount Cook Alpine Salmon.

This is a great example of what can be achieved with the right planning and preparation in 5 days. This involved a 2 day shoot at three locations in Otago and a 3 day edit.

Fungi Music Video

Kiwi band Fungi have a new video due out soon. The band featuring former ‘Opshop’ front man, Jason Kerrison is actually the coming together of his first band from several years ago.

The band were in Invercargill recently shooting a video for the single ‘My Friend’. Queenstown based Scott Kennedy directed with Josh Wallace  as DoP  and James Holman as First Assistant Director.

Jetstar Flying Kiwis

James was recently contracted by Frontside in Auckland as part of a 3-man camera team to shoot branded content for Jetstar New Zealand.

In celebration of Jetstar’s birthday, they gave New Zealanders the chance to take flight for the very first time with their “Flight of the Flightless Kiwi” competition.

James filmed aspects of the arrival into Queenstown and the content at Coronet Peak. Watch the video here.


The US Ski Team were training in Queenstown and Wanaka recently with their sponsor LL BEAN.

James was brought on board through location producer, Philip Turner ( to work alongside Tony Young ( With Tony providing drone coverage, James was responsible for standard camera coverage, hand-held and on a tripod.

The edit should be out in August and we’ll put it up in our branded content section once it is.

Winter Transition Making of…

Air New Zealand recently released the Diaries Down Under produced Winter Transition video.

James was brought onboard by Diaries Down Under to film the majority of the behind the scenes video. This involved traveling to Arrowtown and the Remarkables with Producer Nick Hyne to document the installation of the long term time-lapse devices, The Sentinel. Watch the videos below.

Skyline Queenstown

We are thrilled to have tendered for and won the contract to produce new content for Skyline Enterprises, Queenstown.

Working together with both Tony Young and David Oakley providing drone filming, James has been directing, filming and editing new content.

Filming has been delayed substantially with some interesting weather patterns coming through the region but with three days completed with several different sets of models, one day remains before editing begins.

The featured image is the Aurora Australis; a shot James took whilst shooting a time-lapse during Skyline Stargazing.
